Further Event Information:   Get yer Pirate on and join the Shire of Cloondara as we quest through a day of Pirate themed games and activities! Bring a dish for the potluck, bid on items in the silent auction, and enjoy a Sat-ARRR-day in the Shire! We will be meeting at the field behind Balboa Pool in Balboa Park (look for the SCA sign as you clear the building) at 51 Havelock St., San Francisco, CA 94112, which is accessible by car, MUNI, and BART. Parking is limited, so carpooling and public transportation options are encouraged. This is a dry site: Sorry, not even rum! Please bring prepared dishes for the potluck (no electricity available), as well as any additional chairs and camp tables required for your comfort. There is shade under the trees, but should you choose to bring a sunshade, please ensure that it is weighted, as we will not be able to stake it down. Take US-101 South across the Golden Gate Bridge.

Merge onto US-101 South toward San Francisco.

Continue on US-101 and take the exit for I-280 South toward Daly City.

Take the Ocean Avenue exit.

Turn left onto Ocean Avenue.

Turn left onto San Jose Avenue.

Turn right onto Havelock Street.

From the South Bay (e.g., San Jose):

Take US-101 North toward San Francisco.

Merge onto I-280 North toward Daly City.

Take the Geneva Avenue exit.

Turn left onto Geneva Avenue.

Turn right onto San Jose Avenue.

From the East Bay (e.g., Oakland):

Take I-580 West toward San Francisco.

🚆 BART/Transit Directions

Balboa Pool is a short walk from the Balboa Park BART Station.

From North Bay: Bus or ferry to downtown SF → BART toward Daly City → exit at Balboa Park Station.

From South Bay: Caltrain to Millbrae → transfer to BART toward Daly City → exit at Balboa Park Station.

From East Bay: BART toward San Francisco/Daly City → exit at Balboa Park Station.

Once at the BART station, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the pool.

Terrain Description:   Some uphill gradient from the parking lot. The field itself is fairly flat.

Additional Comments:   We will be meeting at the field behind the building which houses Balboa Pool, where the stone privies are located. Parking is limited, so carpooling and public transportation options are encouraged.

The Shire will provide a number of tables and a few chairs, but the populace is encouraged to bring their own as well. This is a dry site.
