Further Event Information: Þóra & Drogo, Baroness & Baron of Allyshia, invite all to celebrate the coming festive season with games, crafts and a served period feast. During the day there will be games, A&S, fighting (weather dependent) and overall merriment. The evening will consist of an amazing feast, and if we know our community well, story telling.

Terrain Description: The Library parking lot is paved and in good condition. The sidewalks are paved and in good condition. They will likely have ice and/or snow but should have ice melt applied for the event. The event is inside the Library with wheelchair accessible doors and bathrooms. The event will be held in the multi-purpose room which is a large room with a wall of windows.

Bodies of Water on/near Site: There are no bodies of water in the immediate vicinity of the Library but is located less than a mile from the Pacific Ocean and is visible from the Library parking lot.

Insects or wild animals to be aware of on/ near site: Mosquitos may be be a nuisance, depending on the outside ambient temperature. Please take proper precautions. Bears are always a concern on Kodiak island and special care should be taken in the early morning, the late evening hours, when traversing Kodiak trails or out in the woods, or disposing of trash. Please be sure to make lots of noise to alert the bears to your presence and keep a very healthy distance. Do not attempt to feed or pet. They move very quickly and are dangerous. Deer are out in the early morning and late evening so special care should be taken when driving on our roads during these times. It is very easy to come upon deer in the road without notice. Please keep a healthy distance and do not attempt to feed or pet. Please also be aware that inclement weather is always a concern on Kodiak island both for driving our roads and traveling to and from. Dense fog, low visibility, heavy rain, and even blizzard conditions are a normal part of the Kodiak climate. Extra precautions should be taken when driving during these times and be prepared for wildlife in the road unexpectedly during these times.

Event Name: Boar Hunt 2024

Further Event Information: Boar Hunt is a ‘fighting event.’ Mostly. With a feast in the afternoon/evening for everyone else. The heavy’s select one of their number to serve as a ‘boar.’ The boar is chased around Camp Herms while the ‘hunters’ try and dispatch it. Here is where things are different. Most fighting events require that you be authorized. With Boar Hunt, there is space for the unauthorized. The unauthorized (such as children and an accompanying adult?) can serve as ‘dogs.’ Dogs don’t fight or talk. They can help locate the boar for the hunters, but they can only ‘point’ and ‘bark’—no fighting, no talking. Is it silly? Maybe. Is it fun? Well, the hunt has been going on for 20+ years, so ‘yes?’ The rapier peeps have a ‘Stag Hunt’ at the same event.

Further Event Information: This holiday’s Yule with The Barony of Rivenoak will be a celebration of Mystical Medieval Beasts in honor of our Calygreyhound.

The Baronesses of Rivenoak have graciously opened their home to all good gentiles. Many consider Rivenoak their home away from home, and the family atmosphere of the Barony is undeniable! Join us for a day of feasting, learning, and enjoying each other’s company.

All are invited to enter arts and sciences competitions. There shall also be classes, arts and science activities, and a Baronial yard sale. All proceeds of the yard sale will benefit the barony.

The feast, included with the event ticket, will begin at 5pm. Bring your most festive table decorations. Their Excellences encourage decorations to represent magical mythical bestiary.

Event Name: BiBaronial Yule

Further Event Information: It has been many long months since the neighboring Baronies of Eskalya and Selviergard have gathered to celebrate the Yule season. Their Excellencies of Eskalya, Gavin and Celstria, and Their Excellencies of Selviergard, Colum and Vicana, extend a warm invitation to the Bi-Baronial Yule. Their Majesties of the West, Thorfinn and Tullia, plan to join the celebration. Bring out your best garb and stories of the year past to share. Bring your light to chase away the long winter night. Bring games to share with others in joyful competition.

In the tradition of years past, the Eskalya Master or Mistress of Ambrosia will be chosen. Prepare your best period sweet dish or dessert. Documentation is not required but strongly encouraged. Also honoring a long tradition, Selviergard will choose their Lord or Lady of Misrule. Entrants from all areas are welcome in both contests.

Because being in warm company invites tale and song, a contest will be held to choose a Yule Bard. Share a story, song or poem celebrating a moment of the past year.

An Arts & Sciences display is planned throughout the day. Bring completed works or works in progress to display. Cast a vote for The People’s Choice Award.
